Calling All Vloggers

How do I find video bloggers to answer a survey from a startup that is trying to promote its own video blogging software/service? I'm specifically looking for folks who use their mobile phones to capture video for their "vlog" -- b/c that's what this startup company does.

I'm not going to post company names here, cuz that might be considered a bit pepsi-blue-ish.. But I'm basically looking for mobile vloggers who are willing to write up their opinions about a video player service (sorta like a mobile YouTube... but not YouTube). Anyone know anyone? I don't really like spamming random people.. but hopefully I can do so in a nice way. (maybe?) Thanks.

Best answer: I might have the name of one person who's a vlogger who's opinionated on what makes a good vlog hosting service - that may be a good thing. For what it's worth, the whole 'video on phones' thing seems optimistic at best to me; the commercials where people around the world are transfixed by a video of a kid dancing in his kitchen is great PR but not reality, and perhaps it shouldn't be.

Having said that, here are some thoughts. If you stress the 'new service, want to get the users' perspective *before* we build the product' - which is what you should be doing anyway - it won't seem quite like spam or Pepsi Bluish-ness.

Look for vlogging events - Vloggercon is coming up in June, there's always vlogging meetups thru' meetup (one for Palo Alto here), and check out anything posted to upcoming.yahoo.com with the video log or vlog tags. You're in the Bay Area, so there doesn't seem to be a shortage of tech related events. Try forums and mailing lists as well. Also look into groups of users interested in citizen journalism, since that would be a good source of users interested in vlogging. Email me if you have further questions.

Response by poster: Thanks for the suggestions, rmm. I'll email you for that vlogger introduction, if you don't mind... I'm also going to post to the Yahoo message board for vloggers -- to see if anyone there can help me out. But it's always nicer to have an introduction of some kind.

For disclosure, I don't work for the company that is building the video service. I work for a company hired by that company to help them "strategerizify" about mobile video... :P

Also, this survey offers monetary incentives for vloggers to participate. (In case people think I'm trying to get sumthin' for nutt'n.)
