Is there a quick way to create a playlist for every album in my itunes, in one fell swoop?

What do you mean "album"? Do you want a playlist for only complete albums, or one playlist named after all the names in the albums list -- because I'm presuming lots of them only have one or two tracks.

Yeah, I don't understand the question, either. There's already a "playlist" for every album. It's the album listing under artist.

iTunes does this automatically. Click the Browse icon, which is an eye. In iTunes 7 it's in the lower-right corner; in earlier versions it's in the upper-right corner.

I bet it's possible with Applescript, but the nature of your question makes me think you might be an iTunes for Windows user, if not a recent OS X convert. Apologies if I've mischaracterized you. Personally, I find it easier to select a certain album to play by typing the name into the search field. With hundreds of albums in my iTunes library, scrolling through the playlist list until I found the album I wanted to play would take me more time.

There appears to be freeware to do just this. It's for OS X.

Sorry, I was hungover when I asked this.

A playlist for each album, so I can go to the playlists section of my ipod and have a listing of all Artist-Album. So making a seperate playlist for each album, is for the sole purpose of navigation in the ipod.

I've seen stuff for doing it on Mac, but I am a windows user. I've been manally selecting all the songs in each album and then create playlist from selection.

And there's also freeware for Windows that will purportedly do the same thing.

How will that improve navigation on the iPod over just going to Music-Artist-Album? It saves one click, but probably makes the scrolling considerably more.

Well, you could highlight all the songs in an album, then hit Control+Shift+N, or go to File - New Playlist from selection.
Upside: It will automatically name it an Artist - Album format, and you can pick and choose which albums you wish to include.
Downside: You have to do it manually (Even though one click and three buttons isn't very strenuous).

It's just a personal preference Jacquilynne. I like a flat file list rather than having to go through the tree structure.

Seriously, there's a much easier way to do it. Set "Albums" to appear in the main menu of your iPod.

From the top-level iPod menu, choose Settings, Main Menu, and set "Albums" to "On".

That still doesn't give me Artist - Album, just Album.

I've resigned myself to doing it manually. I'm through the B's so far.

Seconding the mass confusion here. How is this any easier than the methods described above in the thread?

Jesus, people, the guy is asking a question and looking for a specific answer. Can we stop challenging his question????
