Make iTunes Growl at me when it finishes synching my iPod.

Mac / iPod / iTunes / Growl Filter: I would like to know when my iPod has completed synchronizing via Growl. Is there an existing Growl plugin module that I can use to do this? I have searched and found nothing. Am I just going to have to create a Automator or AppleScript to run when the synch is finished that notifies Growl?

Best answer: HardwareGrowler comes on the Growl disk image under Extras. It's a generic "notify me of any hardware changes" Growl application, but you can customize it in the Growl prefpane to only notify you of Firewire or USB connections or disconnections (yes, those are separate, if you only want to notify on one of them). I replaced my long-beloved Peripheral Vision with HardwareGrowler.

Oh, also, I just realized, since it's an app, it wants to stay in the Dock, but there' a quick hack with plists that can disable that: hacking Visor for Terminal, under the paragraph starting "There’s just one thing left to do now - remove that dock icon."

Response by poster: Thanks CipherSwarm. I'll give this a try tomorrow and post an update here.

I have also been looking into how iTunes handles the information that it puts into the status window (which is the only play where I can find that you can currently get notified of the synch completion) to no much avail.

I'll see if HardwareGrowler can let me customize it to that extent that I need.
