Good vegetarian food in Boston?

I'm visiting Boston and don't know the area at all. What's the best place to eat vegetarian food? Cafes, Restaurants, whatever; it doesn't really matter as long as the food is delicious *and* vegetarian.

Don't know how restrictive your definition of Boston is, but Veggie Planet in Cambridge serves up some pretty awesome vegetarian pizzas ('pizza' is used loosely here; it really means neat vegetarian stuff on top of nice flatbread; quite a bit of it is vegan, too).

Again, if you're not restricted to Boston proper, House of Tibet Kitchen is a short walk from the Davis Sq. T stop in Somerville. Lots of incredible veggie food there.

Central Square-Zuzu's, Middle East (both bar/restaurants) or for groceries try Harvest Co-Op "A gentrified but affordable, cooperative natural foods oriented market"

Boston:
Chinatown-Pho Pasteur (one in harvard sq too)
Back Bay-Other Side Cafe or Trident Books (cheap)

Buddha's Delight!!!! Please go there...just go. I'm currently in Atlanta looking for something comparable...it's just not the same. There are even two locations, one in China Town and one in Brookline. Don't be put off by their less than visually stimulating decor.

Also, try Grasshopper in Allston which is vegan.

Christopher's in Porter Sq. (Red line, Cambridge) has an award-winning veggie burger.

I've never been to Buddha's Delight, but I did enjoy the vegetarian fare at the Happy Buddha, now 'Pasteur', according to the website.

Thirding Grasshopper (very accomodating to my umpteen dietary restrictions, and they have fantastic "cheesecake").

Also, next door to Grasshopper is TJ Scallywaggle's, a vegan pizza place (also has vegan subs, gyros, spaghetti, calzones, desserts and smoothies). I've only ever sampled the pizzas, which were very good.

I went to Grasshopper once and there was a cockroach on the wall.

I gave it a second shot and there was a cockroach on the wall.

That place is aptly named. Great food, but it might not be vegetarian if you consider bugs to be meat.

The Buddha's Delight in Brookine is now called Thai Cafe - has the same vegan food, though. IMHO it's even better than Buddha's was, plus it has yummy vegan desserts.

The Publick House in Washington Square Brookline has the best veggie burger in Boston and absolutely killer mac and cheese, along with real hand-cut fries (you can also get belgian frites) and a fantastic beer menu with emphasis on Belgian selections.

If you find yourself in Bay Village, there is Rachel's Kitchen for a quick-bite-to-eat place. Plenty of good veggie selections on the menu, but not exclusively vegetarian. The food is always great, excellent coffee (!!), and the owners are welcoming and friendly. It's a bit small, a corner cafe, so seating can sometimes be tricky, but the other patrons are usually cool, interesting people and a nice mix of 'regulars' and people just dropping in. I've had good conversations there on many an occasion!
