Guess I should have paid attention in high school

Now that H.R. 2060, The Internet Radio Equality Act has been introduced, how likely is it to get enacted by May 15? Or even voted on? It looks like they're still looking for co-sponsors, but I'll admit I don't know what that implies.

I've heard talk that Congress doesn't really have that much influence over the Copyright Royalty Board, but I sure hope they figure something out.

I'm just a Bill...

Best answer: It's still in committee, so it's up to the members of that comittee to ensure it gets to a vote. Call your representative and ask them to pressure committee members and provide their support if it comes to a vote.

Best answer: "Looking for cosponsors" doesn't mean that much, really--a bill doesn't need cosponsors to move forward. Bills that have a high number of cosponsors do tend to see action, but we're talking maybe 90 or so, not the 7 that this bill has now. The bill certainly could see action before May 15, but there's no telling. You should watch the committee sites to see if there are any hearings or markups; THOMAS doesn't usually have much information about committee actions, so you probably won't see anything there until (and unless) the bill makes it out of committee.

Best answer: Here is the specific subcommittee that would deal with it.

Response by poster: Thanks, all. I have called my rep., but will call again. I'd be miserable without internet radio, and, knowing me, would make everyone around me miserable too.
