Hooks or loops?

Velcrofilter: Which side gets the hooks, which side gets the loops?

I want to attach a television remote control to my exercise bike using velcro. (Or, for the pedantic, Scotch/3M brand "reclosable fasteners" that work exactly like Velcro).

My question, which is both technical and philosophical, is: Does the remote control get the hooks, or the loops?

Attach the loops to the remote, that way it's safe to set down anywhere else (say, upon the loosely woven fabric of your sofa).

I would attach the hooks to the remote. Personal preference--I cannot stand the feel of the loop side of velcro. (The hooks don't feel great, but they also don't induce the same fingernail on chalkboard cringe.)

Yeah. Also agree with loops on remote.

1. You'll be holding onto the remote with your hands sometimes, and the loops are softer on skin than hooks.

and,

2. The remote will travel around more than the bike; hooks will pick up a lot of random fuzz and thread and crap, while loops won't so much.

Loops. Anyone who wants the hooks up is probably also one of those insane toilet paper under the roll people...

The rule-of thumb is to attach the loops to the thing you'll be pulling - that's usually the side you want to be flexible (think velcro flys & shoe-straps), and the loop half is more flexible than the hook half.

That's the answer to your the technical half of your question, though flexibilty is not a factor in this case. jamaro & blenderfish are right, for the reasons they've stated.

I'm with the majority on this: loops on remote.
