Where can I find a good Xbox 360 backup warranty to supplement Microsoft's?

I'm about to buy an Xbox 360. Where can I get a good supplementary replacement or service plan?

I've known people who've had their Xbox 360's since launch day and haven't had a single problem or hiccup. But then again, there's all these complaints online about consoles bricking! I'd like to protect myself against any possible hiccups.

When Microsoft's warranty ends for me, or should they decide to screw me over (although lets hope not), where's a good replacement or service plan? Preferably a good one that will fix or replace quickly, instead of spending months over the phone trying to convince me that there's nothing wrong with my console.

I've just had my power brick for my 360 die, and I've called Microsoft about it. They told me they'd send another one out in 2 weeks, but that was a couple of months ago. I've since called back, only to find out that they didn't have any to ship out yet, so I just have to wait longer.

Anyway, I've been wishing I just went with a service plan from Best Buy or Circuit City or someplace, so I could just get an exchange.

Best answer: Buy it from Costco. You can get a membership online. If it ever breaks, you can return it for another one.

Please don't abuse this policy.

Best answer: EBGamestop's warranty price just went up by $10 (to $60) in the US and to $100 in Canada. Apparently because they need to replace so many.

I know that around the web, people have been criticizing a lot of extended warranties, but truthfully Best Buy's has been great to me, replacing no questions asked an iRiver MP3 player and a computer power supply & motherboard that died (it was a known issue with that particular model.)

I bought the 50 dollar microsoft extended warranty. It tacks on two years from the end of the regular (1 year) warranty. So the Xbox I bought in february 2007 is covered until March 2010. I haven't been regretting it. And the xbox 360 has been humming along nicely. *Goes back to Oblivion*

Best answer: I can't specifically recommend a specific warranty outlet, only to second the motion that you need one.

I bought mine on release day, and it saw light use for the first year.

This January, I received the dreaded Ring of death while trying to load up a game of Ultimate Alliance.

I have poured over forums and youtube howto videos on how to disassemble the unit to attempt to repair it myself. The best those ever did for me was let me play for another few hours before the unit would lock up again.

I'm now in the process of saving my pennys to send it back to Microsoft for a $140 repair bill, and I am going to tack on the $30 warranty extension that puts it under warranty for a year after I get it back from repair.

It, uh, sucks..

I'm in the UK, but did the same thing as i_am_a_jedi and got Microsoft's own warranty. Mine is valid til September 2009 and have replaced my machine once already. It took all of two weeks and was moderately problem free.
