Can anyone recommend a good, reasonably-priced b&b in the Sydney Greater Metropolitan Area?

My wife and I are approaching our one year anniversary soon (it feels like yesterday I was posting on AskMe about soon getting married!) and one of the ideas I had was to take her for a "mini-break" to a b&b in the Sydney area for the weekend.

So, I was hoping to get some recommendations from Sydney-siders on good b&b's in the area. I know I could google this, but I like the idea of personal recommendations from a community I trust!

Also, if anyone has any other ideas of (reasonably priced) things the missus and I can do around Sydney on our anniversary, I'd love that kind of input too!

Thanks all.

Sydney doesn't have that many b&bs, but it has a LOT of great cafes and restaurants. Why not stay in a boutique hotel at one of the beaches (Bronte, Waverley, or Bondi if you must - just be careful of hotels with lots of backpackers) and take advantage of the cafes?

I've got nothing specific to add, but surely the Blue Mountains has a heap of what you're after. A few even show up on wotif.com from time to time.

There is one near me in Newtown where my parents stay quite a bit. Its a small place, nice. And it's just down the road from my favourite restaurant, Oscillate Wildly.

Details here.

Oh, and about Oscillate Wildly. Very very good food (modern Australian), and you get 3 courses for around $45 a head. Its a small restaurant so you need to book at least 3 weeks in advance. Highly recommended for a romantic night out that's light(ish) on the pocket.

arha! [I've been trying to go to Oscillate Wildly, like forever, but can't manage the book ahead to actually get there. I just pop in occasionally when I'm passing, on the off-chance that they have a cancellation].
I can't recommend any specific places because all my B&B experience is when I'm getting out of Sydney. But if you've got your heart set on the metropolitan area I would lean towards the north shore where you may find some old-time B&B as opposed to B&B/backpackers.
And, Happy Anniversary! [maybe you should be going to a B&B in Melbourne as a special mini-treat]

hydromagestic in the blue mountains ... a hotel rather than a B&B and perhaps a little further away that indicated ... but worth a thought

I should clarify that I don't have a problem with going a couple of hours out of Sydney. I realise that it's hard to find something smack-bang in Pyrmont or whatever! Just looking for something in the general Sydney area that we can drive to (Blue Mountains is sounding promising ATM).

Thanks for all the suggestions so far guys!
