Got To Delete Them Freakin All

How to reset completely one of them new fangled game carts. Befuddled SNES user ahead inside.

So, the kiddo got a hand me down Pokemon Mystery Dungreon Red Rescue Team gameboy advance cartridge from a cousin.

(and yes, he is also being steered towards more RPG based FF type games and is about to start Chrono Trigger soon).

But!

It apparently has a something called Wonder Mail. which apparently opens more missions or such. Via a complex code that is entered.

He deleted the old saved game, but can't access the already used Wonder Mail games.

Me, in my old console thinking popped the cartridge open and expected to find a battery I could remove. Since I have memories of losing saved games to an aging batteries.

No such luck!

Time has moved on!

Is there a way to restore a cart to a factory new sort of state any more?

Right after you turn on the GBA, hold down L,R,A,B and Start.

AFAIK this is the standard button-combo to reset the info on a cartridge. In theory this should erase all the information for the game.

It probably uses flash memory.

Uh, he said SNES, not GBA.

I think he was saying that HE used SNES, but this newfangled stuff his kid has is confusing him. Since Pokemon wasn't around in the SNES days, this leads us to believe that it's a newer system. ;)

So, OP, is it a gameboy advance or what that you're trying to un-gum?

I think SpecialK's right; Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Red Rescue Team isn't on the SNES, not that I would know. Of course.

Best answer: From here:

Hint: Erase Save Data
At the title screen, where it says "PRESS START," press UP + SELECT + B to erase your save data and start a new game.

As far as I know, all GBA/DS games have as part of their technical requirements for Nintendo, a method for erasing all saved data. Sometimes it's an option in a menu, and often it's an obscure button combination that must be pressed, as in this instance.
