Why does Firefox (Version 2.03) restore to its default settings once a week and how can I change this? posted by wheelieman to computers & internet (5 comments total)
On my laptop, it is trying to re-update itself to the same version regularly. It might be because I have a less than optimized version of the RC for Vista. What OS are you using? posted by Burhanistan at 6:50 AM on April 6, 2007
Can you tell us exactly which settings are changing? Have you tried deleting and reinstalling?

Is it a workplace machine? Could your IT people be pushing a profile onto you? posted by DU at 6:55 AM on April 6, 2007
If it's also getting rid of all your bookmarks, it may be creating a new profile (and you'll probably have multiple profiles now). This might help. posted by Many bubbles at 11:19 AM on April 6, 2007
Forgot to add--you can google firefox+profile+bookmarks+gone to see exactly how common that problem is, although I don't know if it's applicable to 2.03. (Bookmarks disappearing is probably the most immediately visible symptom of the profile thing for most people. But profiles keep settings and extensions, too.) posted by Many bubbles at 11:24 AM on April 6, 2007
