VLC crashes!

ran os x (10.3.9) software update last night, now vlc opens movies, then crashes immediately. what's up with that?

did you install any other software?

try deleting your VLC preferences.

No, I didn't install anything else. And throwing away the preferences didn't help. The console is logging this:

Error locating symbol - dlcompat: Symbol "_JVTDecoOpen" not found

I did download a fresh copy of VLC, but that hasn't helped either.

it looks like you have a problem related to your quicktime update, and that a lot of people are having the same problems. im actually on 10.4.9 so i dont know how much more help i can be. You should try reinstalling QT 7.1.3.
