Question: Where to Put Up Job Ads in Ft. Lauderdale

We're looking for workers in the Ft. Lauderdale area. Where should we place job ads?

We have a satellite location in Ft. Lauderdale that needs workers, and I have no idea where to place job ads that people will see. In New York, it's all about Craigslist; but ads placed on Florida Craigslist didn't bring in the same kind of response. Any ideas? I'd rather have a general idea of where people of all stripes look, so I'm not going to be more specific about the work.

I know it's old school, but people still read the want ads, don't they? Put an ad in the local paper (I think it's the Sun-Sentinel). It will also appear online.

I would imagine it might matter what industry. If it's tech/Internet there might be job boards online. If it's $6/hr gruntish work then want ads make more sense.

It sounds like you yourself aren't in Ft Lauderdale. Why not ask the satellite office what they think?

Last time I looked for a job, I spent plenty of time searching Monster.com, CareerBuilder.com, HotJobs and the like. It's where I found my current position.

Of course, if you're willing to take any schmo off the street, nothing wrong with amro and junkbox's suggestions.

It depends on the quality of candidate you are looking for. I personally don't get anything from Craigslist, other than get the name out there. And it's free. You could use jobster or something of the sort.

It all depends on the type of position you are looking. Monster & Careerbuilder if you want to spend the money. Or you could use a recruiter.

The Sun-Sentinel has a pretty hefty career section every Sunday, you could get adspace in there instead of getting lost in the classifieds. Also try local magazines like CityLink, and city-specific publications like the Coral Springs Forum and Parkland Life (there's more, those are just the ones that show up in my junk mail)
