Question: Foundation Repairs in Austin?

What's a good foundation repair contractor in Austin, TX?

We're about to take the plunge on repairing the foundation of our house. We have one contractor lined up, but we've heard mixed results about them. We're two women, so we know we're vulnerable to contractor scams, and we want to avoid this at all costs. I've already researched various contractors, and it all seems a wash. We'd really appreciate recommendations as well as "absolutely avoid"s. Any general advice would also be appreicated. Thanks.

My parents just had their foundation repaired in northwest Austin. The job went well. I will call them tomorrow and ask who they used.

While I was in school at UT I worked for a remodeller named Keith Scheidler who owned a company called Condor Enterprises; a quick yellow page search shows he is still around after 20 years, so he should know the market pretty well by now. I don't know if he does foundation work, but he would know who does and he is genuinely a nice guy who might be a good contact for other home improvement projects.

kiita, I also live in Texas (Abilene). How bad did your foundation get before you decided to fix it? Are you pier and beam or slab? Feel free to email me with address in my profile.

Parents got back to me. They had their foundation lifted a few inches on one end. The contractor was a company called Centex, apparently one of the larger foundation contractors in the area. They did a fine job, and the price was reasonable.
