Question: How do I learn shorthand?

I'd like to learn shorthand, to help take notes quicker and more efficiently. (Ideally, teach myself.) Any suggestions?

Try this for Pitman shorthand, and this for Gregg shorthand. The second link goes to the first 55 pages of an out-of-print book about Gregg shorthand -- I don't know if this will teach you all you need to know about that technique.

Pitman shorthand requires you to use a pen that lets you differentiate between light and heavy strokes, and also requires lined paper because the vertical position of your strokes matters. Gregg has neither of these requirements. (From what I can gather -- I am not an expert at shorthand.)

There seems to be a dearth of information on the web about shorthand. Your best bet is probably to buy a book.

Wow, that Gregg shorthand is insane. Look at the last page of the book Chris posted.
