I'm writing an essay on interns and internships and I need suggestions for books, films, songs (?), quotations, etc., about or that reference, surprise, interns and internships in some way.
All suggestions are welcome.

Here's a quotation search using the keyword "intern"

if you're going for the doctor sense, you can't really beat Scrubs season one. (Also, the kids on Grey's Anatomy are allegedly still interns, but that show is convoluted like whoa).
Now, if you mean the "unpaid coffee-monkey" sense, there's that reality show "I'm From Rolling Stone," a variety of posts on Gawker (i.e. this), and tons of other stuff. Amazon's a good bet, of course.

There's a recurring intern character on Studio 60. And they used to pop up now and again on The West Wing.

Oops, link above maybe NSFW because of language. Sorry. No pictures, at least.

Wes Anderson's movie The Life Aquatic features a team of typically abused, unpaid interns.

There's an episode of Seinfeld where Kramer gets an intern.

Damn, that Seinfeld episode (titled "The Voice" ) is one of the best. Kramer has his intern do things like set up coffee shop lunches with Jerry ("Do you need directions?") even though they go there pretty much every day.
I want to say Ryan in The Office, but sadly, he is not an intern but a temp. As he says in the season three premiere, "Yeah, I'm not a temp anymore. I got Jim's old job. Which means at my 10-year high-school reunion, it will not say 'Ryan Howard is a temp.' Instead it will say, 'Ryan Howard is a junior sales associate at a mid-range paper supply firm.' That'll show 'em."

"The Hills," season one, was all about (LC?) Lauren's internship at Teen Vogue.

one of the ultimate movies on this topic is "swimming with sharks." i don't think frank whaley's character was technically an intern, but the overall point is how kevin spacey treats him, and how he deals with it.

When I interned in Washington, D.C., there was a "skintern" phenomenon. Female interns who dress like sluts in the office. Some want attention, some are oblivious, some want to seduce. I think the Washington Post had an article about skinterns last year.

There's an intern on the ABC drama, Brothers and Sisters, who is sleeping with the host of a political talk show.

You really should search the recent archives of the Washington Post for articles about interns. There are many, from what I recall. Every summer, there's an article about summer interns descending upon the city.

Picking up on HotPatatta's post and going back a few years, the Chandra Levy disappearance (2001) generated national publicity about DC interns.
Also, not exactly interns but close: in NC, a state staffer was fired last year for boarding legislative pages (high school students) at the home of her son, a convicted drug dealer. Google should be able to help with that.
