Turning of a network connection profile

How do i turn of the bluetooth modem in my network connections.

I have a thinkpad that connects to the net via an ordinary wireless network. I very rarely use the bluetooth modem profile that i also have set up in network connections, but i dont want to delete it.

However every single time a query to some server returns an error my computer initiates the bluetooth modem connection. Ive tried messing around in the innards of my control panel and i have searched google, but i cant figure out how to stop this behavior.

Please help me before i am forced to switch to bluetooth altogether.

On my thinkpad:
Fn+ F5
Click the bubble to turn bluetooth off.

Might have to update your drivers if this isn't an option of you under Fn+F5. It's part of the "ThinkVantage" package. If you don't want to do that, you can turn it off more permanently by entering BIOS when you boot-up your computer. I don't know how to do that, but how hard can it be?

Thx - but thats not my problem. I can assure you that bluetooth is turned of and still the dialer that is associated with the bluetooth modem profile in network connections kicks in, when browsing to a page that returns an error.

Okay, how about this: First of all, update all of your drivers. Might be a problem there. THEN Right-click on the little computer with the radio field line thingies coming out of it at the bottom-right hand corner of your computer. Select "View available Wireless Connections." From there, select "Change advanced settings." Then there is a bunch you can do. I would try clicking on the "general" tab and un-checking your bluetooth device if it appears anywhere there (mine doesn't). You also might have to click on "configure." If that doesn't work, go to the discussion forum at www.gottabemobile.com for the IBM thinkpad tablet and they will tell you what to do (just pretend you have a tablet, it will be the same answer regardless of the type of thinkpad. I swear they are all Microsoft Employees and its a lot faster than calling tech support). Good luck.

I'm running XP on a network. The Bluetooth itcon appears in the system tray with the option to stop it. That works for me. Alternatively you could disable it in Network Connections
