audiocassette tapes in NYC?

hi folks! i might be out of luck here, but do any of you NYC-based mefites know of a record/CD shop that sells used audio cassette tapes?

I'm starting doing some work at a place where there's just a cassette player (and it is some pretty boring work, very music-necessary environment), and I'd like to see if I can get my hands on some tapes.. and my favorite record stores (Kim's, Other Music) don't carry them. thanks for any leads!

Audio cass...ette?

I know I'm not answering the question here, but little CD-playing boomboxes are like $30. Perhaps buy one for the office as a "Don't Hate On The Newbie" gift? I just mention it in case you hadn't considered it.

Check your thrift shops. There's a one shop in the East Village, across from a movie theater. 13th st and 2nd ave? Last time I checked, they had a small, random, but surprisingly decent collection of cassettes.

That should be "There's one shop", without the a.

I don't mean to derail the question, but does the cassette player have an auxiliary line out? You might be able to plug a fifteen dollar CD player into the thing while you're on shift. We did that at my old store when the stereo system CD player died and we couldn't afford a new one.

I believe they may have some at Princeton Record Exchange (in Princeton, NJ, but a used record store so cheap, vast, and great that it's worth the not-too-long trip from NYC).

Tapes are relatively easy to find here--I've definitely picked up a few casually in my travels. I see them on Bleeker Street coming upon 6th from the West Village and if you're feeling adventurous there are always tons on the corner of 5th and 9th in Park Slope.
