Mongolian Barbecue in New York City?

Mongolian Barbecue in the New York City seems to be non-existent. This can't possibly be right.

Chowhound and Menupages are Manhattan-centric, and turn up nothing. Google brings up results in Jersey, as well as a New York Times article from 16 years ago reviewing a place in Westport (which is so upstate, it's practically in Vermont). Nothing against Jersey or the rest of New York State, it's just a long way to go for a meal.

There is one slightly promising prospect, noted in this yelp thread, but apparently they shut down the grill at 2:30.

Please tell me there are more options for Mongolian Barbeque in the five-borough area.

I think it's golden era is over - the Korean salad bar seems to have wiped it out, but it's around. Offhand, I know there's one on 41st St., between Park and Lex. There's also a small one in a deli on 34th and 10th. Both standard, reasonably healthy affordble lunch places. Take out, deli style.

BTW, if you're into Mongolian BBQ, you might also be a fan of shabu-shabu. Lots of places in NYC, but the one dear to my heart is Happy Shabu-Shabu on Canal and Ludlow, or maybe Essex.

So glad you asked! I was wondering the same thing myself just last night.

There's a pay by the pound Mongolian Barbecue station in the back of the deli on the west side of 5th Ave between 18th and 19th.

There's one in the deli across the street from the main post office. Or at least there was a few years ago.
