Question: What blogging service to use from China?

What blogging service to use from China?

Asking on behalf of a friend who is moving to China for 18 months.
He wants to set up a travelogue, but is worried that the major blogging services will be blocked to him.

Are there any services he can use, or should he go with a hosted solution?

When I first moved to Korea, even Blogger was blocked for about a week during talks with the N. Korea government. I had no idea (democratic) Korea censored sites like that but some in-depth Googling showed me that it was not a first-time thing.

After being unable to access even the backside of my blog (or other friends' blogs who were on Blogger) I decided to go with a webhost and do things myself.

Blogger (or rather Blogspot) is currently available, as are Typepad, Vox, and Livejournal. Wordpress.com is hard-blocked.

Going with a hosted solution never hurts, but the above free alternatives should remain accessible, though Blogspot has historically been a bit up-and-down.
