How do I remove the simlock of a siemens c55 phone given that I have the unlock code?

I have a siemens C55 telephone that is simlocked. I've also gotten the unlock code off my provider a while back. The problem is I either didn't receive or have lost the unlock instructions, i.e. what exactly I need to type into the phone along with the unlock code, and whether this should be with the original sim card, a new sim card or no sim card at all loaded. I know I can unlock it without the code if I have a data cable, but I don't have a data cable and they'd probably cost more than the entire phone is worth. Googling is made difficult by the millions of sites offering to unlock phones for low low prices.

On most phones, you have to put a disallowed card in and it'll ask you for the code.

It just says "Phone disabled! SP lock" if I do that, and the only option at that point is "SOS" which I assume calls emergency services.

You can get a data cable on ebay for around ten bucks (delivery included)

Ok, the same price might have been a slight exaggeration, but considering that you can a prepaid phone for €30 which includes €15 credit, and that phone would probably be a lot better than this one, I'd really prefer not to spend any more money on it, it's just for use as a "just-in-case" phone. Thanks for the tip though.

Found it! After providing lots of personal info to the provider a separate help system revealed itself. For anyone else coming here with the same problem: it's *#0001*unlock code (SPCK)#
