How do I correctly capture video from my camera to iMovie HD?

How do I transfer correctly my 16:9 video from my Sony camera to my computer using iMovie HD?

A while ago I've bought a Sony DCR-HC96 DV camera. All I've filmed with it is 16:9. I have a Mac Mini and, by selecting the DV Widescreen format when I create the iMovie project, I've been successfully able to capture my video correctly.

Now fast-forward 9 months. I no longer have my Mac Mini, but a brand new MacBook. I want to re-capture the video (don't ask me what happened with the previous captured ones :-). Even if I select DV Widescreen when I create the project in iMovie (and I can see it's the correct proportion, 16:9), in the moment I plug in the camera, it automatically changes to 4:3. So it must be a setting in the camera, but, for the love of God, I don't know what it is. I don't remember changing settings, I am quite a newbie at this, so I pretty much kept the camera on the default settings. But it must be a setting, because I am trying to capture the exact same cassetes I've previousy correctly captured on my MacMini.

So, please help. Any ideas whatsoever are more than welcome!

Best regards,
