Transferring Firefox bookmarks

I'm setting up a new iMac and am seeking a way to transfer my Firefox bookmarks from my Macbook laptop to my new iMac. Any tips? I'm new to Apple, if that matters.

If you use the Migration Assistant that comes with your new Mac, it will transfer all of your old settings across, which should include your Firefox bookmarks.

If you want to copy it across yourself, your Firefox profile lives in

~/Library/Application Support/Firefox/Profiles

where '~' is your Home folder.

Use the Migration Assistant, or just use the target disk install when you're setting up the new Mac.

I think it's rather unintuitive, but the FireFox File menu only has Import/Export items for bookmarks when the Bookmarks Manager window has the focus.

Choose Bookmarks -> Organize Bookmarks to bring it to the front, then choose File -> Export to save the bookmarks to a file. On the new machine, do the same but choose Import.

Install Google Browser Sync on both machines. Note: You must be connected to the internet.

Unless I'm missing something, Google Browser Sync should do exactly what you want, with the bonus of transferring cookies, history and saved passwords.

You can also use the FEBE extension, although I've not used it personally.

I love Foxmarks, which will sync all your bookmarks on all computers in your life. It's great, but I think it only works with Firefox. But why would you use anything other than Firefox, anyway?

http://onlinebookmarkmanager.com/ is also really good.

And just for posterity, you don't actually need anything fancy for this. All that needs to be done is for bookmarks.html to be copied from your old Firefox profile to your new one. Do this when Firefox isn't running.
