Cooking classes in D.C.

Interesting cooking classes in Washington, D.C. proper?
I'd like to learn some new cooking skills and meet other folks in the area interested in food, and am hoping to find an interesting class or two in D.C. proper (I don't have a car and getting out to the 'burbs is often a hassle). So far I've come up empty handed, so any suggestions will be much appreciated!

Oh, and l'academie de cuisine is walking distance from the Bethesda metro stop.

I've taken classes at L'Academie de Cuisine and they are fun and interesting.
There are two types of classes: one is a demonstration class. You sit and watch a chef prepare a meal as she/he discusses what they are doing. And you sample as they prepare.
The other is a participation class. These are really fun. You prepare the dinner. Usually, groups of people prepare different parts of the meal. Then you all get to eat!

Roberto Donna offers cooking classes at Galileo (1101 21st Street NW), including one where you go to Whole Foods, buy all your ingredients, and then prepare a meal.
The bad news is that their building is being renovated, so the D.C. kitchen is closed until mid-2007.

The Donna classes have been restarted at Bebo, which is metro accessible. Sign up for the mailing list and you'll get information on them. I don't know why they can get those weekly mails out but are unable to update their damned website (though that's consistent with the kind of upkeep Donna did on Galileo, based on the duct-taped doors) but they DO have upcoming/current clases.
Also a possibility, there's classes at Sur Le Table at Pentagon Row, also metro accessible.

I can personally vouch for cooking classes at Lebanese Taverna, but I'm afraid I don't know much about the public transportation in that area. Can any Arlington folks answer that part?

i was just going to mention lebanese taverna, but yeah, there is no metro within walking distance. You'd have to take a bus.

The Sur La Table is on Pentagon Row. There is A Lebanese Taverna in the same shopping center, but I don't believe it is the one where they teach classes. I always buy my DC friends classes at Sur La Table for their birthdays. Always gotten positive feedback.
Take the blue or yellow line to Pentagon City and head out west (left?) toward Joyce Street, through the mall then parking structure. You'll come out on the back side of the shopping center with Sur La Table and Lebanese Taverna. They are about 50 meters from one another, if I remember correctly.
Not EXACTLY DC proper, but I wouldn't call it the boonies.
