RecipeFilter: How can I make the Thai dish Kua Gai?

I ordered Kua Gai from a Thai place last night and it was delicious. Flat, wide rice noodles, egg, scallions, tofu, and ... stuff. What is the stuff? I'm good at Thai food from recipes, but I don't have the intuition to make it myself yet, so I can't determine which ingredients will make that taste. It wasn't spicy, but it certainly wasn't bland -- the only word I can think of to describe it is very "substantial." Just seemed to be a simple combination of oil + spices, but whether it's peanut/sesame/other oil, and which spices are involved, I do not know. It did taste a little peppery.

Here is the menu listing from the place I ordered it from. Google tells me it's on the menu at some other restaurants, but it doesn't give me any recipes. Is there another spelling I'm not aware of?

Tamarind or tamarind concentrate?

Tamarind gives it a sweet/sour taste, doesn't it? It didn't really have that...

There's almost certainly some fish sauce in there.

I couldn't find anything similar in David Thompson's Thai Food, which is pretty encyclopedic.

While Googling a bit I noticed that notable food blogger Pim of Chez Pim mentioned the dish in a post...you might consider getting in touch with her? If she doesn't already know a recipe or trick she might get a kick out of the challenge.
