What's this public art in NYC?

What's this public art/sculpture in NYC? It is plastic and shiny and is located just outside Central Park, across the street from the Apple store on 5th (or it least it was on Dec 31st when I took the picture).

This spot features new sculptures or installations a couple of times a year.

I don't know whether the piece has any special significance, but I did note the first time I saw it that all of the corners line up so that it seems to be four individual geometric shapes sharing the same centerpoint.
