Question: IE printing issue

Why won't Internet Explorer print images from a web site?

The site is http://marriott.com/property/mapandnearbyairports/default.mi?marshaCode=gnvcy.

I had a user who was on the road and trying to print out the map. I got her to print a map of the area from Google Maps (worked fine), which solves the problem but not my curiosity.

At my machine, "Print Preview" shows only some text at the top and bottom but omits all images on the page, which is also how it prints. Firefox prints it correctly. The remote user confirmed the same IE behavior on her machine.

So what's on that page that keeps IE from printing the page correctly?

In print preview, I see 3 pages - first one has very little text. If I tell the printer to print only page 2 - with the map - it does. All in IE7.

In FF1.5, I can see & print in normal tabs & IEview tab.

Sorry - not helpful, except to say it ain't consistent.

I get the same result as mr_crash_davis using IE7 on XP. The markup is pretty shitty so I'm not sure which mistake causes the screwiness.

I just discovered that, in IE7, if I set the print size to "Custom" and choose any value below 78%, the image shows up.

Weird.

Yep. I must have been viewing in customsize - if i put that to 100%, the map disappears.

How unhelpful.

There is a setting in IE to print "background images".
Perhaps those images are backgrounds, and the setting is turned off?

No, that was the first thing I had the remote user change, plus it shows up when resized in Print Preview.

Highlight the map, starting with the text above and going through the text below, press Ctrl-C, load Microsoft Paint and press Ctrl-V. Crop out the text if you like and print.

This works much better (and faster) than pasting it into a Word document.

KRS, we got the map printed through Google maps, so that wasn't an issue. I'm just trying to find out what specifically on the page was causing IE to not be able to print it directly from the browser.
