Using an air compressor for spray-finishing

Can anyone direct me to a good online (or book) resource for learning basic spray finishing with an air compressor?

I want to paint some cabinets that I'm building for my study and living room. They're fairly large, bookcase style, simple joinery, but I want the finish to blend with the other woodwork. I also have a bitchin new air compressor that I want to put to use.

This looks pretty comprehensive or Google spray painting techniques for more.

Fins -thanks. I swear I tried several permutations of spraying/air compressor last night before I gave up and posted. Much appreciated.
