Please, anyone know of a good massage place in St. Louis?

I would like to give my sister-in-law a certificate for a massage or two, but I live 1000 miles away and can't check places out for myself. I don't want accidentally to send her to someplace skeezy. Just looking for a good massage therapist and a pleasant, relaxing place. Thank you St. Louisans!

I would be pleased to recommend my current masseur and the salon at which he works, but you didn't indicate if your sister-in-law resides in the city or the county. (City laws prohibit massages by opposite-sex technicians; in the county, anybody can rub anybody.) You may contact me at the address in my profile if you want more info about my guy.

I have also enjoyed massage at Ginger Bay in Kirkwood, which is a bit spendy but luxe and worth it. Friends of mine use the massage services at Philip Johnson Salon (in the city's Central West End) and have no complaints.

Finally, the St. Louis area has several Massage Envy locations. I've not used their services, but one of my female co-workers swears by them. It is probably the most affordable of the options I've mentioned.

What a thoughtful gift, though. I treat myself to a massage about every two weeks and thoroughly enjoy it.

On preview bradlands beat me to it so I am now seconding Ginger Bay. My wife goes often enough to be a fan. She is always happy to get a gift certificate from there.

I'm not in STL anymore, but a friend of mine goes to the Healing Arts Center, which is a school, but is highly recommended.

Allow me to suggest Studio Hao. You should check out the site and/or call to check out gift certificates / packages that would suit your sister-in-law's needs.

Disclamer: the proprietor is a friend of mine, but if anything, the personal connection helps dispel any risk of accidental skeezification.

I'll second the Healing Arts Center - they're students, so they don't charge much, and once you get past the patchouli smell, they do a good job.
