I paid 25 cents at a Public Library Used Books-and-Stuff Sale for a CD-ROM of "Flash 2" with a registration card for "Flash 5 Upgrade". Am I in danger of doing something illegal, futile, or just flashy?

No doubt, the EULA says the Flash 5 upgrade is non-transferable. Breathe the free air, son - you are well out of danger with this thing.
