seattle / tacoma folks - i like to watch airplanes take off and land. Suggest a good spot to sit quietly and watch the air traffic at seaTac airport?

wow, so you know how you have to dance around certain topics so no one thinks you're a racist or a child molester? I totally feel like I should be wording this more carefully so no one things im a terr'ist.

but yeah - a place where I can sit alone (no people milling about yacking) and watch the planes?

anyone?

Try taking 99 down toward the airport and get off an exit or two before the Sea-Tac exit.

There should be a site where people can exchange this kind of information. For instance, I would like to have this same information about KTUL.

Following up on the other thread, S. 154th St., which runs along the north side of the airport, has been rerouted and reopened (check out Google's old satellite image vs. the hybrid image with the overlay of the new road location), but there's not a good place to park there, and like most of the other viewing spots, it's at a significantly lower elevation than the runways.

Since the old viewing park was obliterated to make way for the third runway, this little park is pretty much the only public place left where you can actually see the planes touch down and take off.

If yer ever north of the border and want to watch the birds at YVR, this is a very good place for planespotting.

(In fact, asking this question in flickr aviation/local groups might be a good way to find planespotting places.)
