Unlocked smart phone

Any problems using an unlocked Treo 680 on T-Mobile?
I am tired of lugging around a PDA, pager, and cell phone everywhere I go, so I am going to make the leap to a smart phone.
For work, I need a Palm OS (not windows) device. Unfortunately, I am near the beginning of a 2 year T-Mobile contract.
I can get work to reimburse me the cost of the device, so spending money on an unlocked device isn't a huge problem, but they won't pay for the service, so I'd like to avoid switching to a new carrier (and T-mobile has been great so far, though I've never used their data plan).
Will this work seamlessly? Or will I spend an entire day setting the thing up and still find things don't work perfectly? I am willing to consider other Treos, but the 680 is very sexy and is the first device I could see carrying around everywhere.
