Why is Drudge Pushing "Dreamgirls"?

Why has the Drudge Report been obsessively pushing the movie "Dreamgirls"?

Almost every day for the past month, there has been something there about that movie. And I know the Drudge Report never reports or omits a story without a reason, so what is it? Is "Dreamgirls" funded by Focus on the Family? Does it somehow make Hilary Clinton look stupid? What's Drudge's interest in it?

This is just a guess, but maybe he's being paid to promote it?

The studio is probably paying him. You think Drudge reports rightwing nonsense because he's political? He's gay. He does it for the $$$.

It may stem from his obsession with divas.

You know, I have to admit that I honestly hadn't considered the money option.

Drudge is a Broadway fag.

He was pushing Borat just as hard a few weeks back. Long before most people heard of him. Curious.

I loved how he was pushing the river on Mars story for like two straight days while the Iraq Study Group report was front and center on every other website, everywhere.

That kind of thing is the only reason I look at his site. He pushes things like Borat (I assumed) because he sees a potential for riling the base, and distraction. That one made sense to me, as did the water-on-Mars thing. "Dreamgirls", though, I just don't get. Unless it's really because the studio is paying him.

Exactly. I'm waiting for the morning when his headline simply reads, "LALALALAICANTHEARYOULALALA."

Drudge is gay. That is, if you believe David Brock and a bunch of other people. It's always made all the sense in the world to me.

I would encouarge everybody not to believe David Brock about anything he's ever uttered, and I might choose to use more delicate terms than hermitosis has thus far, but yes, I think the fact he's gay explains Drudge's interest in the film.

There was also a tempest-in-a-teacup in the gay community about the film, when the star of the movie Jennifer Hudson said something about how she's baptist and they believe that homosexuality is a sin. She backpeddled a lot afterward.

People still get their news from Drudge? Sheesh...

I've always thought it'd be fun to put together a running deconstruction of the implied motivations behind Drudge's posting habits, & also Glenn Reynolds while we're at it. You could narrow most of it down to a pretty short list of running memes & attach a numbered label to each then just call out which posts are instances of which meme. The information value of both sites is shockingly low, I bet more than 75% of each could be reduced to a list of numbers referring to the memes they're pushing that day. Kind of like the old joke about the guys who know each other's jokes so well they have them numbered & just call out the number instead of telling the whole joke.

Glenn Reynolds?

Heh. Read the whole thing.

The first paragraph was interesting enough but I'm not gonna pay to see how it ends.

It's the diva fixation/gayness. Today he's been linking reviews panning Beyonce's performance.
