Guidance from the squid?

This is driving me nuts. I'm trying to remember the name of a site that offers general how-to information and contains the word "squid" or something like it in the URL. In content it's not unlike makezine or instructables, but less specifically hands-on. Am I crazy? Was/is there such a site?

It isn't Laughing Squid or Squid Fingers, is it? Or maybe Squid Cache?

Response by poster: No, unfortunately it's not laughing squid. I came across that one in my searching today, but that's not it.

Could you be thinking of Howtoons, which are made by Squid Labs?

Response by poster: No, unfortunately it's not laughing squid. I came across that one in my searching today, but that's not it. It's not about the web-caching software. It's general information.

Response by poster: That's the one, DrJohnEvans. Squidoo. Thank you!

Huh.

Now that I've started the topic, what do you all think of Squidoo? As I look at it now, it seems a little...not good. It was better in my recollection.

Is it all as blatantly self-promotional as what I'm seeing in my first few clicks?

Well, I can't say that it's ever done enough to really grab my attention—although I did get that vibe of "hey, remember all those sites you visit to get compact, handmade content? Forget 'em, now you can just come here!"
