In search of 'E'.

How can I locate a novel named 'e' about an opthamologist (eye-doctor) obsessed with Spinoza?

I checked it out from Oberlin's Mudd library ~7 years ago; didn't finish it, but would like to now.

Most book-search engines either disallow single-character searches, or return hundreds of (irrelevant) results.

Further info: nothing to do with email, and it's not that other book written without the use of 'e'. About where I dropped off, the protagonist was being pressured by his colleagues to join a franchised eyewear-chain (like LensCrafters), so there was this conflict between the metaphysical aspect of vision (window to the soul and all that) and the cold reality of maintaining a profitable business.

Best answer: Google suggests you are looking for this one? It has a longer title but seems to fit your bill. http://72.14.253.104/search?q=cache:ibbPeivo8lgJ:www.princeton.edu/~eschor/sandra/contemporary.pdf+novel+ophthalmologist+spinoza+e&hl=en&gl=ca&ct=clnk&cd=1&client=firefox-a

The Toronto Public Library (or, more specifically, the Horizon Information Portal platform used by many library web sites) has a search for "title begins with" that will let you then scroll forwards and backwards in alphabetical order from the closest match

I found "E: a Novel" by Matthew Beaumont. The author's name should allow you to locate it at the library or a bookstore.
