New Zealand Filter: Please help me identify this cool compound...
So I'm traveling around the world via Google Earth, and I find myself looking at New Zealand - specifically, the North Island and the city of Wellington. Looking down at the airport, my eyes notice that the tip of the land mass northeast of the airport appears to be a huge compound of some sort. It's greener that the surrounding areas, and includes a very large building, as well as some sort of cool structure at S 41 17' 6.36". Anyone have any idea what this is? Peter Jackson's private mansion?

No doubt, the structure at 6.36 is a light house.
As for the other ones, I'll have to ask my father.

Response by poster: ambilevous & psyward,
Thanks so very much. Man, that's one nice place for a prison. I'll look up more info on the Massey Memorial, those pictures are amazing, what a gorgeous place.

There are also quite a few old gun emplacements in the area--see the Point Halswell Battery Site.

Yeah but you have to put up with Wellington weather.
I was born there and for 14 years, it was generally either grey, or rainy, or windy. Or all three. Don't get me wrong, it was great when the weather was nice. I remember the day, it was a Thursday.
