Elvis Costello song

Elvis Costello fans, does anyone know the name of the following song? All I can remember (very vaguely) is that it's by Elvis & that the lyrics reference a closet upstairs where it's always Christmas, or something very similar to that.

Best answer: And on the second floor is the Macintosh Man
He's in his overcoats more than out of them
And the typewriter's rattling all through the night
He's burgundy for breakfast tight
He says "One day I'll throw away all of my cares
And it is always Christmas in a cupboard at the top of the stairs"

Next time, try this:

Go to Google.

Type in: (Artist name) + (lyrics) + (part of lyrics).

So: elvis costello lyrics always christmas.

The first hit would have told you the title, no AskMe needed.

Easy.

Except that if you include the word "closet" in the search, you're not going to get very far. The word used in the song is is "cupboard." Confusing the one for the other is a perfectly understandable error to make when remembering lyrics from years back. Had jonson tried multiple variations on his search, perhaps he would have gotten there eventually. But who knows how long it might have been before it occured to him to drop the word "closet."

Oh no! He might have to try multiple times to find the answer! Heavens no!

Figure out how to use Google already. I have no sympathy, it's the easiest thing in the world. 5 minutes of effort would have revealed the title.

agregoli,

Five minutes? Unlikely. As I said before, he would have had to keep trying until it occured to him to drop "closet." Since that was one of the few words he could remember, it's unlikely he would have done that. And there's no indication that anyone posting in this thread fails to understand how to use Google.
