Question: The Ultimate Price of Zelda!

Where can I find the prices of old video games?

Ok, so, I know this is a hard question to ask but I'm sure someone out there could answer me from personal experience.

Basically, I'd like to know if/where I can find a list of prices of every single Legend of Zelda game ever made (yes, including the CD-i ones *shudders*.) The catch is, I need to know what price they were launched at originally.

If no one can come up with an answer for that then I pose a slightly easier question: Does anyone remember what the general prices of games were for the NES, SNES, GB, CD-i, and, I'm pushing it here, how much was the Game & Watch?

With that information I figure I can pull it together, as Zelda was always popular, meaning that it would be in the highest price bracket for each.

Thanks so much!

I remember some original NES games being as high as $60 when they came out (in Canadian dollars). Though I bought the Asian versions with a Super Famicom adapter and they were often a lot less. One figure that jumps at me is for Donkey Kong Country, about $120 when that came out for SNES. Game boy games I recall were in the $20-30 range.

Thanks, perp, that was what I figured for NES games, around $50-60 USD, just making sure. And holy f**k!. I love Donkey Kong Country but dear GOD!

I also forgot to ask, home much were the various systems (NES, SNES, GB..)?

Any decent sized library should have magazine archives, where you should be able to find everything you need in the ads.

I'm pretty sure I paid about $55 for Zelda 2 (The Adventure of Link), and that was a good deal at K-Mart because I made them match someone else's price.

My cousin paid something like $60 Zelda 1 when it was the new hotness.

Rhomboid, magazine ads would not have prices, as they would be placed by the manufacturer, whereas the prices would be set by the retailer.

Hmm... that's where my memory gets a little fuzzier... I remember getting the bundled pack of 2 controllers, NES, power pad (the one that you "run" on) and the gun for something like $200-250. SNES ran for about the same when it was first introduced. Gameboy I would put at about $100. It's funny, I just picked up a Gameboy a few months ago for $10.
