It is... The Woles! Ho-o-o-o-o-owl!: Name that song.

Name that poorly remembered song for me - something about wolves, maybe by 3 Mustapha 3 (but maybe not). It existed on an old mix tape from (I think) about 10 years ago, which may help date it.

Actually, it's for a friend. He writes:

It may or may not be by 3 Mustaphas 3 - I don't recognise the title on any of their albums; though as I can't remember the title this may not be telling.

I have a vague recollection of it having something to do with Korea, though whether this was part of the story or part of the band name I don't know.

It consists [at least in my memory] of music and a man telling a story about a city where the bears attack and the only way to stop their savagery is to keep them dancing night after night. Then the bloke asks: Who is bravest in all the world [the syntax is accurate but I think the specific words were different] and who is alert all the time and who is something else. He answers: It is... the Wolves! Ho-o-o-o-o-owl! Something something something, for the horror and the noise were too much even to imagine, yada yada yada,

the end.

Response by poster: And I got a typo in the title. Marvellous. Woles indeed.

Could it be "Junkie Man" by Rancid? From the album, "...And Out Come the Wolves" from 1995?

Sounds familiar, but I don't have anything like that in my collection. If it's not a 3M3 song, check the discographies of Boiled in Lead and Immigrant Suns, who both combined various ethnic music styles with English lyrics.

It's a Three Mustaphas song called Chilling Tale. If you go and find Three Mustaphas on Amazon.com you can listen to part of it. It's on the album 3Mustapha3 play stereolocalmusic
