Question: Give me a ring, will ya?

I can't find the site where I found this beautiful ring... can you help?

A few months ago, I found this ring on a shopping website. I saved the picture of it, but didn't note where I had seen it for sale.

I've checked all my usual shopping haunts, used the new Like.com site to try to find it (a pretty cool site, btw) but so far I'm coming up empty. I thought I might have saved the link. Sadly, no.

Linkie to picture of the ring:

http://CorkyB.smugmug.com/photos/110212782-S.jpg

I really, really want to find this particular ring. Is there a service on the web where I can upload the pic and compare it to similar pics? Like.com just allows you to search for items in their large data base.

Any hints about how to retrieve the link from the innards of my computer? Cookies?

I can't offer a reward for anyone who does find out who sells this piece, but I will be eternally grateful.

It looks like something that Hidalgo might make, although their pieces are really expensive. Do you remember the price range?

If you have the original photo you downloaded, on a Mac you can select the file, hit command-I, which usually gives the url from which the file was downloaded. I don't know what the key command on a PC is, but it's maybe worth a shot.

It was less than five hundred dollars, or else I wouldn't have even considered it - even in my dreams!

You might consider taking a printout of the picture to a local jeweler. They might be able to find it in a catalog. It is pretty, though!

If you have the original filename of the picture, you could try searching for it it via google images. This has always worked for me, but I'm sure there are limitations.

Woo, look at that hive mind go! I just received an email from someone who has an answer but no MeFi account:

Could you let Corky know that Ross-Simons sold that ring – it was in all their catalogs about a year ago. It's not shown on their website now (that I could find... www.ross-simons.com) but they are selling 2 similar rings (http://www.amazon.com/Size-Tone-Diamond-Flower-Eternity/dp/B000E174RC/sr=1-93/qid=1163466621/ref=sr_1_93/002-0802502-6820847?ie=UTF8&s=jewelry and
http://jewelry.ross-simons.com/perl/rssh0001.cgi?EDIT_FAMILY=125841).

I don't work for Ross-Simons... I just remember seeing it because it was always in the catalogue.

Thanks!

Wow. Just wow. I looked through the entire Ross-Simons site. I am in AWE of the hive mind!

I'm gonna sleep on it, but I think I have to treat myself to this oooohshiny. The multi-gemstone one is calling to me. It's so similar to the one I found before.

Thank your friend for me. A lot!

Well, she's a long-time lurker on MeFi but brand-new acquaintance (she emailed me because I had commented on this question). If you wave hi to her, she'll likely wave back quietly.

And I say treat yourself. There's nothing nicer than having a new sparkly, especially one to wear on cloudy days.
