Question: Precarious penile perforation

Last night, I tore my frenulum. Ow.

So, I guess it somehow got caught and pinched in her thong, but anyway, it bled rather profusely... so the bleeding stopped eventually, and I put a bandaid on it. Is this something that I should get medical attention for? It doesn't hurt anymore, but it's a bit sore. Can I look forward to reduced sensitivity and a nice little scar?

A friend claims to have done the same thing before, and shrugged it off a minor incident. I'm not too worried about it, but a bit of reassurance would be comforting.

Penis wounds are like *cough* head wounds; the penis is very well vascularized and you can expect lots of blood. It also heals rapidly and well.

Try a modified piercing aftercare regimen on Mr. Happy: saline soaks for a few minutes twice a day, and boxers or commando only. You do not want warm confined spaces in which critters can breed.

If you are uncut the issue becomes more complex and I have no firsthand experience with such a member.

One other thing: no blowjobs until it's healed. Sorry. The human mouth is almost as bad as the cat mouth (and much worse than the dog mouth) for harboring nasty bacteria, and a human bite was, even pre-AIDS, a pretty dangerous thing.

Neosporin, stat! Ditto on jet_silver, but throw in a nice topical antiseptic to keep the dark, warm, confined space loving critters at bay.

FWIW, penile piercings heal in something like half the time of other piercings. You'll be okay.

I'd recommend giving it some time to heal, but if an infection develops or you experience discomfort you probably want to talk to a doctor about it -- as embarassing as that might be.

Been there, done that, lived to tell about it.

Didn't hurt all THAT bad, but did rather impressively stain the sheets and shock the bride.

No lasting damage...except the ever present knowledge that penises are not unbreakable and to remember to be gentle and encourage the same in partners.

I did have it immediately inspected by a doc and am not circumcised, and back then (I was maybe 27), it was a little embarrassing. He gave me anti-biotic ointment, told me to be abstinent for a week or three, and that obviously helped. I was mighty careful for several more months, and have not had a recurrence since (25 years+).

Don't sweat it, but do practice good hygiene and keep things clean, dry, and protected.

I'd like to say I passed out from the enormous blood loss, but that would be bragging and untrue! It'd be funny, of course.

Neosporin: FYI: It's yesterday's news. Today its about Polysporin. Same manufacturer, updated formula.
