Converting AAC to MP3

How can I convert AAC sound files to MP3 files? For some reason, Powerpoint will not let me insert AAC files as sound files, so I'm looking for an easy way to convert about a dozen short AAC files so Powerpoint can recognize them.

iTunes will do it... set your preferences in iTunes to use the MP3 encoder for importing, then add the AAC files to your iTunes library. Right-click on them and select "Convert to MP3".

Is it a protected AAC? If so, this thread on dbpoweramps site might help.

Otherwise, you might burn them to an audio CD and then rip them as MP3s instead of AACs. It will degrade the quality a bit, but so will converting them outright.

Hmm, nevermind. BeLight only does AAC as output, not as input.

I use JHymn to do this. While it was designed to remove the earlier versions of the iTunes DRM protection, it easily converts unprotected .aac files to .mp3 as well.
