The best in my opinion is Giganews. I've never had any problems with them and the retention is outstanding. You can always cancel early and you'll still have access for the full month. posted by fellion at 8:19 AM on November 10, 2006
Giganews is, I agree, by far the best Usenet service available, but it doesn't meet the poster's criteria as it has no daily or weekly service. I'm not aware of any service other than usenetserver that has such short term service. posted by The Bellman at 8:35 AM on November 10, 2006
Ultrafeed has a 3 days for $3 also. I only get 50-60k/s though.
I use Giganews where I get around 750kB-1meg/sec. posted by mphuie at 10:25 AM on November 10, 2006
Another vote for Giganews, along with a further reason. Giganews maintains a much deeper archive of postings, so there is almost no worries about getting only a portion of a particular binary set.
Assuming, of course, that one might be interested in such things. posted by grabbingsand at 11:18 AM on November 10, 2006
