Question: Need a barbershop in Toronto

Who can point me at a good traditional barbershop in Toronto?

I need a haircut today or Monday and I like a traditional barbershop. You know the kind of thing... fading pictures on the wall, a bunch of old guys hanging out, three day old newspapers, a dog wandering around... TV on... the guy cuts your nose hair without asking... you specify a haircut with a number...

Unfortunately, every time I find one I like, it closes down. I hate the Russian roulette of finding a new one (had too many BAD haircuts from old guys whose equipment dates from the Korean war). So, what's your favorite neighbourhood barbershop?

(Extra points for location south of Dundas and east of Yonge)

All of those are on the westside or uptown, or are Salons. I'm really looking for something around Queen East.

Try the Danforth. There certainly used to be a bunch.

If you want a good and stylish cut, though, may I recommend Miranda? She's my stylist, does it in her house. She only uses razors, which prevent those awful line syou get when your hair grows out a bit. http://www.myspace.com/hairbymiranda

I usually preferred Camillo (the older guy, without the vest). It fits your description exactly (except for the dog).

Dominic at 1991 Danforth just west of Woodbine might suit your needs. I forget the name of the shop but it's the only barber shop on that strip. He's the only one in the shop, though there are 3 chairs, but he does a fine job. He's been there decades.

No appointment. $12 for a cut, I believe. I can't remember what he charges for a shave. I think he's closed on Mondays.
