Who did 'The Girl' belong to?

In the light of Paul McCartney's current marital woes, I want to focus on his performance in his last great relationship spat - namely his tete รก tete with Michael Jackson over ownership of a girl.
In the 1982 song The Girl Is Mine both Jackson and McCartney outline their arguments as to why said eponymous girl belongs to them. Applying your knowledge of debating and law, who makes the most convincing case? Who, on balance, does 'The Girl' belong to?

Totally belongs to Paul. As a consolation, perhaps she has a younger brother...

A fighter always wins over a lover because, you know, while the lover is standing around saying nice things, the fighter knocks him on his ass.

Clearly, they're both obsessed with this girl.
She's playing them both, telling one guy that he's her forever lover and the other one that she couldn't love another.

The girl pwns them both.

Paul and Michael shall get the girl on an alternating week-about basis, with the girl exchange occuring at 9:00 PM every Sunday evening. Each shall be allowed access for a two-week period during the summer, with at least four weeks notice to be given in writing. Paul shall have the girl on his birthday every year, and on Christmas and Valentines day during even years and on Thanksgiving and the girl's birthday during odd years. Michael shall have the girl on his birthday every year, and on Christmas and Valentines day during odd years and on Thanksgiving and the girl's birthday during even years.

Paul is the actual boyfriend, Michael is the stalker.

You'll notice that Michael sends flowers and candy? Is he leaving them on her doorstep with a dead cat?

Then Michael says "after loving me, she said she couldn't love another' She is obviously saying "you disgust me and make me never want to touch a man again" and he is hearing what he want to hear like a good little stalker.

I can't understand the way you think, saying that the girl is Michael's.

The girl is Paul's. The doggone girl is Paul's.

Zombie MJ from Thriller would win in a fight. And let us not forget that Paul is (already) Dead. But considering that Paul was married for many years and Michael seems to prefer more nontraditional company, it's likely that the girl belongs to neither of them unless she is Linda McCartney. And Linda's dead. However their possessiveness only belies the fact that love cannot be defined in terms of ownership, and the girl actually belongs to herself. Unless she's a slave, in which case she would go to the highest bidder at sale, assuming they're singing the song in a capitalist market.
