Andronico's on Funston between Lincoln and Irving is pricy but has a pretty great beer selection. posted by ORthey at 10:44 AM on November 6, 2006
It's not a store, but toronado has an awesome selection. I'm pretty sure that they sell bottled beer for take-out. Call them and find out. posted by quadog at 11:40 AM on November 6, 2006
Toronado does sell beer for take out but in my experience they don't like doing so - they can be pissy about it. Of course the bartenders there are often ill-tempered so don't necessarily let that stop you. posted by pombe at 12:05 PM on November 6, 2006
BevMo is never a bad bet, though to get really oddball stuff (like Westvleteren) you're probably going to have to go smaller. Toronado is a terrible idea if you want to buy bottled beer, or you're wearing a striped button down shirt, but it's a hell of a place to try new stuff on tap. posted by kcm at 12:49 PM on November 6, 2006
Mollie Stone's on Portola has a nice selection. Dunno about "best", but very very good. posted by judith at 1:50 PM on November 6, 2006
Other choice delicacies include Northern California's largest selection of Belgian Ales and exotic microbrews from the rest of the world... posted by trip and a half at 2:45 PM on November 6, 2006
B) Lots more suggestions in response to a similar question in this BA thread
C) Aside to kcm: where the hell can you get Westvleteren in San Francisco?? posted by rkent at 4:59 PM on November 6, 2006
Rogue will less pissily sell take-out from the tap (site claims 44 choices), and also has a decent selection of pre-bottled stuff. It's mostly their own brands (which are quite good), but they do have a few "guest beers". posted by trevyn at 5:26 PM on November 6, 2006
