As a "more inside" are there plugins or desktop apps (for OS X) that will publish the same article to more than one platform/account? posted by Robot Johnny at 12:51 PM on October 31, 2006
There may be a way to do this by creating a special category just for the cross-posts. Have you searched the WP forums and plugins? I know many users also use LJ. posted by Brittanie at 2:04 PM on October 31, 2006
I recall seeing a WP plugin for cross posting to live journal. Don't know if it lets you filter by category, but you should be able to find it yourself pretty quickly on code.wordpress.org.
This assumes you are hosting your own installation of wordpress, not using wordpress.com posted by Good Brain at 2:10 PM on October 31, 2006
I use the LivePress plugin. It seems to spit out some errors when posting, but it gets the job done. posted by chickygrrl at 1:00 AM on November 1, 2006
I know I'm coming late to the party, but my commentary: there's no good means by which to do it.
LivePress is your best bet if and only if the entirety of your blog posting is done through the web interface. If you post using an external editor, or if you publish photographs to your blog via Flickr or del.icio.us links to your blog via its daily blog posting, LivePress will not convey any of those posts to your LiveJournal blog.
Livejournal Crossposter for a while seemed to me to be the best bet. Then, I began noticing substantial delays in posting, which ended up being due to the crossposting code. The kicker was when I created a new category on my WordPress blog and went back and recategorized some posts, and the Livejournal Crossposter promptly made them disappear from site. Thankfully, once I disabled the plugin and republished all 40-50 of the posts I had recategorized, they came back — but the code is obviously too funky for use right now.
Moreover, I ran into the unfortunate situation that LiveJournal's interface for performing single actions on a mass number of entries absolutely and categorically sucks. There is no way, for example, to retag a number of entries, or even to delete more than one entry at a time. So when I wanted to wipe out my LiveJournal, I had to download a command-line interface and then use a macro to repeat necessary keystrokes for each and every entry.
