Channel One video?

A friend of mine would like to share Channel One educational video with her graduate class. While Channel One makes programs available through their website, they don't include any of the "in between" content; advertisements, etc. As there isn't much demand for this content outside of schools, file sharing networks aren't very useful. Any ideas on how to track down some content?

To be clear, your friend is looking specifically for an unedited Channel One program including the interstitial ad content, yeah?

One old-school solution: locate a school that uses the Channel One material, contact a teacher, and explain your situation and ask for a video tape. Rinse and repeat until you find a willing cohort. (Based on personal k-12 experience, I'd recommend talking to science teachers. The seem to trend subversive.)

Response by poster: You've got it exactly cortex. I've already given some thought to contacting teachers (I used to be a substitute, so I know a few), but that might be a bit much to ask.

It'd be great to find some video to download, but I realize that's unlikely.

Any teachers on MeFi willing to help out?

You could contact Ch1. They might be touchy about it, though, depending upon your friend's intent. According to some media books I've read, Ch1 is verrrrrrry protective of their image.
