Where can I find grown up stuff with a Peter Pan theme? Mr. Orangemiles loves Peter Pan but I don't want to get him green tights for his birthday. Something that says, "Yeah, you're getting older but I still love that little boy inside," would be better. Recognizable connection to Peter Pan, if possible, and a $30 budget. Suggestions?

I googled 'peter pan' art. The top result has nice prints that are quite affordale. you can get them framed too.

How about a $5.99 Peter Pan hat, adult size? (Directions to make your own here, but you'd have to find out his head circumference without giving away the surprise.)

Amazon lists a bunch of books about J.M. Barrie, various cultural and psychological aspects of Peter Pan, and special editions of the book. (The above link is to a search with a bunch of good stuff in the results.)

There's also an antique certificate of membership in the Peter Pan Club, a patch he could put on his favorite jacket, renowned British actor Derek Jacobi reading reading the story on CD, a 1000 piece photomosaic puzzle by Disney, or if he likes music, a CD of the original 1954 Broadway cast with Mary Martin. (Maybe I'm biased on that one--my mom used to sing me "Tender Shepherd" as a lullaby!)

And if you are both so inclined, certain after-dark parts of life could be livened-up with one of these: Various Peter Pan-related adult women's costumes. (Wendy is available at: 3wishes.com). Slightly more than you were looking to spend, but could be worth it!

I haven't read this myself, but remember reading about it on Boing Boing: Alan Moore's Lost Girls. According to BB, "Moore appropriated the iconic character Wendy for the graphic novel (she's in good company: Dorothy from "The Wizard of Oz," and Alice from Wonderland are in there, too)."

Emanuel's recommendation of Lost Girls was clever, but... be aware that it's "adult" material. I dig it a lot, but if you're giving him the gift in front of, oh, say, your in-laws... :-)

Leonard Bernstein wrote some lovely but not well-known music for a stage version of Peter Pan. There's something oddly delicate and adult about it. Bernstein's version is very different from the famous Broadway musical version composed by Charlap and Styne.
