Can you help me find this artists' work?

When I was a kid--reference point: I was born in 1980--there was a singer named "Paulo" (or at least that's what I remember him being called) and he sang songs about Alberta and its history. He had songs about the Frank Slide, the big fire in Calgary, how Alberta got it's name, stuff like that. From the eons old dubbed tape my parents had his album was aptly named "Alberta Songs"...does anyone recognize this guy? Can you tell me where--if it's possible--to purchase this album? I would love to have a real copy of it now.

Not familiar with the artist or the album (or Alberta-related music in general), but this page seems to be examining the history of Alberta folk in some detail—you might find a lead there.

If you don't have luck elsewhere, you could try contacting singer Matt Masters. He toured the province performing "Alberta songs" as part of the centennial celebrations, and according to his website he was also compiling an "Alberta songbook" to be published (but I don't know if it ever was). Please post a followup if you do discover anything.

Probably not what you're looking for, but Stompin' Tom Connors has a couple of Alberta-related songs in his repertoire, including "Cowboy Johnny Ware" and "The Ballad of Wilf Carter".
