Is there a way to back up the songs on my iPod to a USB flash drive?

I think you'd have to go to the computer and then to the flash drive.

There are devices out there that allow you to transfer files directly from one usb device to another without a PC. It would be easier to just backup the songs from your PC. I can't think of the name of one but I saw it at a big box retailer a year or so ago. You can find a similar device here.

Best answer: I think you might be looking for yamipod, which allows you to copy songs OFF the iPod in a useful way. It is free.

What a silly predicament apple's gotten itself in. Almost all other MP3 players ARE flash drives.
